Important Information for Applicants
First off, we are glad you are interested in applying to Nexus! Before applying, we ask that you please read over the following information.
When we are looking at potential recruits, there are some things we would like to see. We would like to see that you’ve taken it upon yourself to push your character as far as it will go, and you do not count on others to pull you through instances or raids. We want to see that you care about being the best you can be, and care about ench/gemming/upgrading your gear as much as you can on your own.
Nexus is a guild that is focused on endgame content and raiding. Therefore, as we continue to push through endgame content, each new fight demands that we achieve every drop of healing, dps, mitigation, threat management etc. out of every character in the raid. The game is balanced around the raid members having the gear, enchs, gems and consumables and therefore we expect our members to strive to maximize what they have to be the best in their respective classes.
We also look for people who understand end game raiding and have a good attitude about it. Also, and of equal value as your gear, we look at a recruit’s personality, how well they play, chemistry, and how well they use their entire bag of tricks to maximize contribution to any team, raid or guild they participate in.
Lastly, and most importantly, we aim to have fun while progressing through end game raids. Is everything listed below mandatory…? Heck no! We aren’t dictators! ^_^ But in the end, the goal of the guild is to progress in end game raiding, and to achieve that we need people that strive to be the best.
What we are looking for:
Talents:
Depending on class how does your spec rate with the person/people you think best represent(s) the mainstream build. Are your choices based on 25 man raiding or is it a pvp spec or a 5 man instance spec?
Skills:
Professions moderately advanced? 425+ on each
* Overall gear:
- Items no less then a 245 item level
- Head should have a glyph as dictated by the class/spec.
- Shoulders should be inscribed, even the weaker ones.
- Pants should have the best thread of some kind.
- Chest, Wrists, Hands, Boots, and Weapons should be enchanted.
- Health and Mana should be at appropriate levels for the class and spec represented.
Raid time:
Tues/Wed/Thurs : 10pm-1am or later
Monday: 10pm-1am
Rules of Nexus Raiding
By Miltar - Jan 01, 2008
These guidelines are here to clarify the Nexus raiding rules and set expectations for participation and roles. Each raiding member must have read and agree to these guidelines to participate in Nexus raids.
Raid Nights
Nexus raids Tues, Wed, and Thurs from 10pm to 1am server and also on Mon from 10pm to 1am server. 25-man raids are given precedence over 10-man content. Members should not get locked into non-Nexus 25-main raid IDs until either (A) 24 hrs before the raid reset unless a raid is on the calendar for that content or (B ) the content has already been fully cleared. Wintergrasp (Archavon) is included with the other 25 man content.
25-man raids should be scheduled by the GM on the in-game guild calendar at least 7 days in advance and start/end times will follow those times listed on the in-game calendar. If next week's raids are not scheduled, bug the GM to put them on the calendar. Please indicate your expected attendance on the calendar.
Roles
* Guild Master (GM): schedules the raid, assigns the main tank, healing lead and may optionally assign the roles of raid leader and loot master. The GM typically keeps the role of raid leader and loot master for raids they attend.
* Raid Leader (RL): explains the boss fights, and distributes loot. Also works with the main tank and heal leader for proper raid composition.
* Main Tank (MT): manages the rapid pace of the raid. Marks targets (or assigns marking to an assist such as an off tank or healing lead), initiates pulls and provides tanking assignments. The main tank should always be pulling trash unless the healing leader requests a break. Attendants low on mana should drink as necessary before the next pull but the pace will not be dictated by such attendants.
* Healing Leader: assigns healing for trash and bosses. Keeps track of healing team's mana and informs MT to adjust pace. Assigns soulstone targets and calls out for (or defers) druid battle rezes and shaman resurections.
* DPS Assist: assist for burn targets.
* Master Looter (ML): follows behind the raid and picks up loot. Note that the loot from a boss will be awarded after DKP calculations and may be several minutes after the trash pulls to the next boss has begun. You are responsible for staying in the zone until the loot has been distributed.
* Everyone should have basic understanding of the instance and the boss fights likely to be attempted. This includes reading boss-killers, wowwiki, TankSpot, and reviewing multiple strategy videos. If the RL requests suggestions each person should feel free to voice opinions. The raid leader has the final say in the strategy for each attempt.
Pre-Raid
* Sign up for the raid on the in-game calendar!
* Players should be online at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. The RL will send out invites no earlier than 20 minutes and begin building the proper raid for the encounter.
* All players should have the required Nexus guild add-ons as stated on the forums and in-game guild information.
* All players should be ready to step inside the instance at the time the raid is scheduled to start.
* The GM will explicitly assign the roles of raid leader, main tank, and healing leader.
* The GM/RL assigns the loot master and set random drops to “rare”.
* The only summons expected are for players who are asked to re-spec for the raid. If you are asked by the GM, RL or healing lead to re-spec, you may request a reimbursement from the guild bank for the talent clearing.
* Everyone should have gems in, enchants on gear, and at the instance barrier at 5 minutes before start.
GoGoGo
* At raid start time, enter the instance and buff.
* A flask or two elixirs are mandatory. Food buffs are mandatory. Only the RL can state flasks and food are optional for any encounter.
* Everyone should loot their corpses of all items. Do not leave junk for the master looter to pick up.
* Ventrillo chatter during boss fights needs to be kept to a minimum for critical communications.
* Only the RL can call a wipe and ask for wipe prevention. After a wipe, please wait until wipe recovery has been completed before discussing strategy changes, failures and successes. Do not automatically release your corpse until the RL calls for everyone to run back (fight dependent).
* After a wipe, prepare quickly for the next attempt.
* AFK breaks can only be called for by the GM/RL and should not exceed 5 minutes, nor occur any less than every 2 hours.
* The member responsible for marking the trash for tank and CC targets should always be ahead of the group marking the next target as the old target dies. A sneaky druid off tank or healing leader can perform this task to keep the raid pace quick.
Loot
* Loot is distributed on a rolling DKP system as stated on the Nexus web site. Each item has a DKP value and DKP points are awarded for raid participation or being on “active standby”. The ML is responsible for updating the DKP site after the raid.
* BoP items are “sold” using DKP to main specs first. If no main spec needs, a “roll” is called for by the RL for offspecs. DKPd items do not need to match armor types (cloth, leather, mail, plate) to be needed on for main spec. NOTE: in 5-man content, main spec armor type gets priority over main spec lesser armor.
* If BoP item drops that no one wants to spend DKP on it will be sharded, even if someone “could” use it. Giving items to people by default will disturb the DKP system.
* Epic boss BoE items from the raid are available for main spec via DKP immediately; otherwise the BoE will be sent to the guild bank and sold. A player can petition the guild master for off spec usage after the raid at a DKP cost or bought immediately for AH price.
* Legendary items are awarded by a loot council of online guild officers and the raid leader before awarded and charged DKP.
* All drops should go to a main before and alt and should go to the class needing it on main spec rather than an off spec.
* Roll on items you want to indicate your interest. Awards are not based solely upon the value of your roll.
* Abyss crystals go to the guild bank and distributed under the discretion of the guild master.
* Members get priority over Initiates for main spec items.
* PvP loot from Wintergrasp is awarded by a simple main spec then off spec roll.
Post-raid
* The GM/RL will call the end of the raid and should not extend beyond the timeframe listed in the calendar.
Misc
* Substitutions will be kept to a minimum.
* Raid slots will not be held for more than 10 minutes for a player coming online or going offline.
* Members who persistently disconnect can be replaced if it impacts the pace.
* Members may not zone out to repair, turn in tokens, or get enchants/enhancements without permission of the raid leader.
* Any raid participant may, at the discretion of the officers, have their DKP earnings reduced due to being unprepared (missing enchants, food, elixirs), excessive disconnects/afks, foul language (vent, raid, party), or any other activity which prevents the progression of the guild.
These guidelines are subject to change at any time by officer vote or guild master.
[*] The loot system above was written prior to current DKP system implementation, and may be subject to change.
[Updated: 8-31-09 by Slaytanic - changed raid days (Fri to Thurs), player arrival time prior to raid, added TankSpot resource, changed "group" to "in-game" calendar and updated formatting.]
